Otto Haalboom, founder and owner of OTTO HAALBOOM Internationale Spedition, is celebrating his 70th birthday. Born in the Ammerland, the entrepreneur dedicated his life passionately to the world of freight, his customers, and new ways of transport for all kinds of goods.
A shipper by trade, he was faced with the decision to start his own business when his employer closed shop in 1981. With the already existing customer base, Otto Haalboom started his own shipping agency, initially transporting between Hamburg and Frankfurt. Then, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Eastern Europe opened up, and today the entire world is being delivered to by all means of transportation. In the course of their assignment to IATA-Agent, the shipper's service portfolio has focused on air freight. In addition to the regions in the U.S. and Asia, countries in the Middle East and Africa are served by Haalboom Internationale Spedition. Through distinct knowledge of cultural, logistical, legal framework, and personal contacts, Haalboom covers any transport issues along the logistics chain in these areas.
Through creative problem solving for, e.g. transportation of a railroad car on a truck, Otto Haalboom greatly influences his company's business and expanded its development to a global logistics service provider. Next year, he will hand his company over to familiar hands, his daughter Julia Haalboom-Ebert and her husband, Markus Ebert, who is already the managing director. Then Otto Haalboom will have more time for Africa, his second passion. This continent fascinates the shipper on a business as well as a personal level, and Haalboom has been involved for many years with many African charity organizations.
WE MOVE IT.
